Tradycyjnymi już elementami dorocznych spotkań EAA są Annual Party oraz MERC (Medieval Europe Research Community) Party. W tym roku konferencja była wyjątkowa dla polskiej archeologii, bowiem prezydentem EAA został prof. dr hab. Arkadiusz Marciniak z Wydziału Archeologii UAM w Poznaniu, zaś prezydentem MERC dr Jakub Sawicki z Instytutu Archeologii Czeskiej Akademii Nauk.
Spotkanie było świetną okazją do zwiedzenia ateńskich muzeów, a także miasta i okolicy.
