The programme's concept and overall shape were developed by Dr Agnieszka Kołodziejczak, a Deaf researcher and art historian, Vice President of the Ucieleśnienie Foundation, a partner of Deaf Culture Week, and Karolina Krauze, Accessibility Coordinator at the Marek Edelman Centre for Dialogue.
Within the Festival programme, Deaf Culture was presented as an autonomous sphere of creativity, language and identity. Polish Sign Language (PJM) served as a language of art, communication and community-building. Deaf people participated in the events as artists, researchers, educators and co-creators of the programme.
Dr Agnieszka Kołodziejczak curated two exhibitions: “Gest i mimika g/Głuchych” [Gesture and Facial Expressions of d/Deaf People], featuring paintings by Marek Krzysztof Lasecki at the Bałucka Gallery in Łódź, and ”Instrukcja obsługi normalności” [Instructions for Operating Normality], an exhibition of social posters by Tomasz Grabowski at the Marek Edelman Centre for Dialogue. In developing the programme, she combined a scholarly perspective with practical experience in organising artistic and educational events.
She also moderated the discussion "Bycie g/Głuchą kobietą i artystką” [Being a Deaf Woman and an Artist], featuring Edyta Kozub, Dominika Kozłowska and Kinga Hołda-Justycka. The conversation explored the participants’ creative journeys, the influence of Deaf language and identity on their artistic practice, the representation of Deaf people in culture, as well as the accessibility of institutions and the barriers faced by Deaf women artists.
Deaf Culture Week also included a meeting devoted to "Głusza” [Deafness], a book by Anna Goc, a conversation with Daniel Kotowski, a historical walk led by Tomasz Świderski, as well as events for children and young people. The programme also featured Ewa Łukasiewicz, the Targowa 62 Association and the Migawki project.
