Place of the event: Franciszkańska 1/5, Łódź
When: 18 January 2024 (Thursday) 18:30 - 20:00

The opening of the exhibition "Przenikanie" [Permeation], which is a result of work of an extraordinary creative tandem: Ryszard Hunger and Piotr Kotlicki, whose acquaintance and then long-term friendship began nearly 25 years ago at the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz will take place on Thursday (18 January) at the university's Wozownia 1/5 Gallery (Franciszkańska 1/5). "Przenikanie" is also the cooperation of independent people, other painting personalities. The project is carried out by the University of Lodz in cooperation with the Film School in Lodz and the Municipal Art Gallery in Lodz. The exhibition will run until 29 February 2024.

Cooperation between the master and the student, cooperation within the construction industry, Italian Renaissance workshops, Rubens and Rembrandt's studios, WHUTEMAS, Pruszkowski's open-air painting workshops in Kazimierz Dolny, coworking for artists are just a few examples of close cohabitation of artists, which brought excellent results. It is similar in the case of Ryszard Hunger and Piotr Kotlicki painting together.

Conversations about art, visits to each other's studios and joint activities with students resulted in permeation also in the field of art. It has become an incredible area of exploration, a laboratory of ideas where the creative process is constantly ongoing and visions and concepts of artists following different paths emerge

– this is what Adriana Usarek (2023) writes about the Hunger-Kotlicki duo.

However, many of the differences are superficial. We encourage you to read the full curatorial text by Professor Aneta Pawłowska (go to the exhibition website - in Polish).
